The multicyclone is a way of reducing the amount of water needed to top up your pool by lessening the frequency of backwashing. It collects the particles in the centrifugal pre-filtration chamber , the sediment can be removed by a valve (shown on left of picture) with minimal water loss. The other advantage of this multicyclone is that it lengthens the life of your filter media too.
